Introducing the amazing fish of the region To even more people

The Kitami fishery is famous for scallop aquaculture in Lake Saroma

The fisheries of the Sea of Okhotsk are blessed by mother nature herself

Is something that can’t be forgotten

Salmons, hokke(Okhotsk atka mackerel), flounders[M1] ,

Natural abundance that will not yield to other regions

A deliciousness that continues to be passed on through generations

In order to protect this region’s fishing industry

And to continue to provide the best seafood to people

 

There are many ways to achieve that goal

And they will do everything they can do

A new type of fishermen is born in Kitami

In order to protect this region’s wonderful fishing industry

Since I was a child, I wanted to be a fisherman and help protect the local fisheries. I went and studied at university for that very reason. 

When I came back a few years ago, I started an initiative called the “Fishivore Project”. 

Under the slogan “Delicious. connect” we have been working to bring the appeal of delicious and fun fish to as many people as possible for over 10 years.

In July 2019, we established the “MASS-COSMO” with local fishermen.

In order to protect this region’s wonderful fishing industry

Since I was a child, I wanted to be a fisherman and help protect the local fisheries. I went and studied at university for that very reason. 

When I came back a few years ago, I started an initiative called the “Fishivore Project”. 

Under the slogan “Delicious. connect” we have been working to bring the appeal of delicious and fun fish to as many people as possible for over 10 years.

In July 2019, we established the “MASS-COSMO” with local fishermen.

Delicious fish in the best condition they can be

In Tokoro, just like other Okhotsk port towns, a lot of fish is brought to land. But uncommon or small fish are rarely shipped out. There are flavors that only fishermen can pass on, like the taste of Senjo Ikejime fish.

 We’re creating a distribution system where fresh fish is distributed straight from the local fishermen to restaurants all over Japan so that delicious fish can be enjoyed by everyone.

Senjo Ikejime is done on board the ship, as the fishermen take in the fish. The amount of fish that is processed is limited, so only fish in the best condition are selected. The efficiency of the fishery is of course important, but I think introducing the taste of fresh fish will help the fishing industry gain even more recognition in the future. I’d like people to taste what the people and fishermen of Tokoro taste.
For example, Okhotsk is widely known for chum salmon, but fatty fresh pink salmon is also actually very tasty. There are many delicious ways to eat fish, like Ruibe, a frozen seafood dish, which is a very common local dish.
